Join Girvan Lifeboat Crew

If you think you could be our next crew member, why not come down to the station on a Monday evening at 7pm.

At the moment we are particularly looking for people who could be available during the day, Monday - Friday. This means you don't need to live in Girvan. If you work in the town and might be able to take a couple of hours off at short notice if the boat is launched, you could be right for us.

You can come and meet the crew, see the station, and take a trip on the boat, before you need to make any decisions.

If you still want to join the crew, you will have to pass a medical, then you will start your probationary year where you will be trained in everything you need to know, from using a radio and charts to dropping the anchor and rowing a dinghy.

After that you can specialise in a particular area if you want - navigation, mechanics or coxswain training is available - or you can be an all round crew member.
